Project story: Tank Cone

From 654 kg to 6.6 kg – precision in perfection

In the area of large-scale milling, we machined a tank holder for a European satellite program. In its final form, this tank cone weighs just 6.6 kg, machined from a solid 654 kg raw block. Such a high degree of machining, coupled with the highest dimensional requirements, is a true masterpiece of state-of-the-art CNC milling technology. Using a CNC machining center, a component with extreme weight reduction but at the same time maximum stability and precision was produced from the raw block.
